Reps blame Okonjo-Iweala for darkness in Nigeria - TRIBUNE
THE House of RepresentativesCommittee on Power, on Tuesday, blamed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, for the darkness enveloping the country, due to the downward trend in power generation.
Okonjo-Iweala, according to the committee, should apologise to Nigerians over the irregular power supply in the country, which, it said, was due to the non-release of money allocated to the power sector.
Chairman, House Committee on Power, Patrick Ikheriale, during a meeting with the Ministry of Power, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), DistributionCompanies (DISCOS), Generating Companies (GENCOS) and Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), expressed concern over the situation.
Ikheriale said the House was concerned on the downward trend in the power generation and supply, adding that this made it to mandate a joint committee on power, commercialisation and two others to investigate the issue.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Mr Godknows Igali, in his presentation, said there would soon be an improvement in the sector
What a load of rubbish!! I am very angry now... Will her releasing the money make the power sector better, or will it end up in the legislators pockets? Senseless legislators. Madam, well done; u are doing a good job; keep it up. Do what u have to do. Please, keep the interest of the poor Nigerians at heart; not the bickering of some rabble-rousing legislators, who are only after their own selfish braggadocio. Nonsense, please.
