ETHNOCENTRISM

Ethnocentrism is a major reason for divisions amongst members of different ethnicities, races, and religious groups in society. While many people may recognize the problems, they may not realize that ethnocentrism occurs everywhere and everyday at both the local and political levels.
Ethnocentrism is a natural result of the observation that most people are more comfortable with and prefer the company of people who are like themselves, sharing similar values like mode of dressing, similar behavioural patterns etc ..
While some argue that ethnocentrism continues purely in the spirit of fairness and equity for all othersargue that it is a force that weakens human relations and that despite the cultural differences, we are all still human and should be viewed as such first and foremost before any sentiment.
